Mumbai : Indices resumed trading after the 45-minute trading halt post Sensex hit lower circuit. Despite the halt, benchmark indices are continued to plunge with the Sensex is down 3,173.67 points or 10.61% at 26742.29, and the Nifty down 909.60 points or 10.40% at 7835.85.
According to experts, if the indices continue to plunge, there may be another trading halt in the afternoon.
About 203 shares have advanced, 1436 shares declined, and 68 shares are unchanged.
10 am : Sensex hits lower circuit, Trading halted for 45 minutes
Mumbai: With economic slowdown looks imminent owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, Stock Markets across the world opened the week with heavy plunge. In India both the indices, Sensex and Nifty opened at heavy 8% fall.
At opening, BSE Sensex plunged by more than 2700 points or 8.77% at 27291.27 points, the NSE Nifty fell by 757.05 or 8.66% at 7988.60 points.
At 10 am Sensex dropped nearly 3000 points to fall below the 27000 points. NSE Nifty also dropped by 847 points or 9.69% at 7898.20 points.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee opened at an all-time low of 75.68 against the US dollar compared with Friday’s close of 75.20. Gold prices also fell on Monday as investors liquidate their investments in the precious metal.
