New Delhi: India has witnessed a massive surge in infections as daily Covid-19 cases jump to 3.17 lakh in the last 24-hours.
According to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country has reported 3,17,532 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 491 deaths in the last 24-hours ending 8 am Thursday. Meanwhile, Omicron tally also rose to 9,287 as of Wednesday night, a sharp increase of 3.63% since the previous day.
India’s active caseload currently stands at 19,24,051, while the daily positivity rate is at 16.41%. With 2,23,990 more patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries in the countries has risen to 3,58,07,029.
Meanwhile, India’s total Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 159.67 crore till Wednesday i.e. 19th January 2022.
“With the administration of more than 73 lakh Doses (73,38,592) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 159.67 Cr (1,59,67,55,879) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 1,71,82,273 sessions” said a pib release.
