Mumbai: Amid speculation over the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra following the Mahayuti alliance’s landslide victory in the assembly elections, caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said he would abide by the BJP’s decision regarding the CM’s post.
Shinde mentioned that he had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, assuring them of his support for any decision made and emphasizing that he harbored no grievances about the selection process.
“There is no resentment, no obstacles,” Shinde remarked, addressing the media during a press conference in Thane.
Clarifying his stance on the Chief Minister’s role, Shinde revealed that he had reassured both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister that neither he nor his party would create hurdles in forming the new government.
“I told the Prime Minister that if my presence causes any difficulty in forming the government in Maharashtra, please do not hesitate. Whatever decision you take will be acceptable to me. You are the head of our family. Just as BJP members trust your decisions, we will too,” Shinde stated.
