New Delhi : The Indian National Congress (INC) on Friday unveiled its first list of 39 candidates for the upcoming general elections. As expected Rahul Gandhi has been confirmed to contest from Wayanad. Notable figures in the lineup include former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.
Speaking at a press briefing, Venugopal stated, “The Congress Election Committee convened yesterday and finalized its inaugural list of (Lok Sabha) nominees, featuring prominent names such as Rahul Gandhi and Bhupesh Baghel.” Among the candidates, 15 hail from the general category, while 24 represent diverse backgrounds including ST/SC/OBC and minority communities. The Ruling BJP has already released its fist list of 195 candidates.
