80th Independence Day Celebrated at Rourkela CGST Commissionerate

Rourkela : The 80th Independence Day was celebrated today with patriotic fervour at the Office of the Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Rourkela Commissionerate. The programme began with the singing of Vande Mataram, rendered with special reverence in its 150th anniversary year, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by Shri V. Pandiraja, IRS, Commissioner, and the National Anthem, observed as a solemn duty owed to the nation. All officers and staff attended in full ceremonial turnout, along with their family members.

In his address, the Commissioner paid homage to the freedom fighters and set out the vision of a Viksit Bharat @2047, underlining the role of GST Officers in realising it through integrity, efficiency and a taxpayer-friendly administration.

The Commissioner inaugurated the newly constructed GST Seva Kendra, now functioning from the ground floor of the Commissionerate premises at KK-42 CIVIL TOWNSHIP, ROURKELA, in the presence of stakeholders from the Chamber of Commerce, the Taxpayers’ Bar Association and others.

The GST Seva Kendra is a single-window facilitation centre providing taxpayers free assistance on registration, return filing, refunds, e-way bills, tax payment and grievance redressal. It will especially help small traders, MSMEs and new registrants by offering prompt support under one roof and easing compliance.

Addressing the assembly, the Commissioner underscored the need for all stakeholders, particularly small traders and the MSME sector, to avail themselves of the GST Seva Kendra – a dedicated facilitation mechanism for timely redressal of taxpayer grievances. The celebration concluded with the Commissioner conveying his gratitude to all who graced the occasion.
