Patna: Nitish Kumar is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time. Alongside him, BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha will take oath as the state’s deputy chief ministers.
The BJP has elected Samrat Choudhary as the leader of its Legislature Party in Bihar, clearing the way for him to continue in his role as one of the two deputy chief ministers, Union Minister Nityanand Rai confirmed. Vijay Sinha, who will also continue as deputy chief minister, has been named the deputy leader of the Legislature Party. These decisions were finalised during a meeting of BJP MLAs held ahead of the formation of the new government.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP-led states, and other top dignitaries are expected to attend the grand event.
In the recent Assembly elections, the NDA won over 200 seats in the 243-member House. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, followed by the JD(U) with 85 seats, solidifying the alliance’s strong mandate.
