Basavaraj Bommai to be the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, Swearing in Tomorrow
Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai has been named as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is scheduled to take oath at 11 am tomorrow.
His name was finalized during BJP Legislative Party meeting in Bengaluru in the evening. The meeting was attended by union ministers and central observers G Kishan Reddy and Dharmendra Pradhan as central observers.
Bommai, a prominent Lingayat community leader in Karnataka and a close aide of BS Yediyurappa was appointed CM a day after the latter’s resignation from the top post. Bomai is the son of former Karnataka CM S.R. Bomai.
Outgoing Chief Minister Yediyurappa has congratulated Bomai for being named as the new CM of the state.
“Congratulations to Shri @BSBommai on being elected as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. I am confident you will lead Karnataka in the path of development and fulfill the aspirations of people of the state” he twitted.
