JSW group steel production up 65% in Q1

Standalone steel output slips marginally (QoQ) due to diversion of liquid oxygen

Biznextindia : Sajjan Jindal controlled JSW steel group combined steel production grew  by 65 percent YoY to 5.07  Million Tonnes (MT) in the April-June (Q1) quarter of FY22, against 3.07 MT in the Q1 of FY21. However, on quarter on quarter basis (QoQ), steel production grew by 16% as against 4.39 MT in the preceding quarter (Jan-March 2021).

The JSW group includes production of jointly controlled entities line Bhushan Power & Steel, JSW Ispat Special Products ltd.

Meanwhile, JSW standalone steel production grew by 39 percent YoY to 4.10 MT against 2.96 MT in Q1 of FY21. However, on QoQ basis, the company’s steel production declined by 2 percent against 4.19 MT in the preceding quarter (Jan-March 2021).

Capacity utilization during the quarter at standalone level was 91 percent due to diversion of medical oxygen to hospitals, the company said.
