New Delhi: The Monthly production of Maruti-Suzuki, the country’s largest producer of cars, has continued to fall owing weak demand in the domestic market. The Company’s production in September has dropped by 17% to 132,199 units, from 160,219 units in September 2018.
While the production of ‘Mini’ segment cars, which include Alto,S-presso and old WagonR, has dropped to 23,073 units from 36,987 units, the production of compact segment has dropped to 75,264 units from 78,589 units in September 2018. Overall the passenger car segment has dropped to 100,687 units from 120,315 units in September 2018.
Maruti Suzuki had reported a 26.73% drop in total domestic sales last month. That marked the eleventh straight month of falling sales for the auto maker. The company had sold a total of 1,12,500 vehicles in the domestic market in September, as against 1,53,550 in the corresponding period a year ago. Its total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market fell 27.10 per cent to 1,10,454 units.
