Mumbai: Indian indices opened on negative note on March 20 with Nifty below 17,000 on weak global cues. At 09:16 IST, the BSE Sensex was down 406.45 points or 0.70% at 57,583.45, and the NSE Nifty was down 120.30 points or 0.70% at 16,979.70.
At 9.40 IST, the indices extended their losses with Sensex down by -502.12 or 0.87% to 57,487.78 and Nifty down by 157.25 or 0.92% to 16,942.80.
Adani Enterprises, Hindalco Industries, TCS, Infosys and IndusInd Bank, JSW steel, Hindalco were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, BPCL, Divis Laboratories, Titan Company, SBI life and ONGC.
