New Delhi : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha today, marking her eighth consecutive budget presentation. Prior to her speech, the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the budget. This budget is the first full budget of the Modi 3.0 government.
Before heading to Parliament, Sitharaman, dressed in an off-white handloom silk saree with fish-themed embroidery and a golden border, met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She carried the budget documents in a red pouch featuring the golden national emblem.
In her speech she said “ poor, young, farmers and women are the prime focus of the Budget. Together, we aim to unlock India’s potential under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Honourable Speaker, I present the Union Budget for 2025-26, which continues our efforts to accelerate growth. This budget is dedicated to accelerating growth, driven by our aspirations for a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ Our economy remains the fastest growing among all major economies.”
