JSW Q4 crude Steel output up 6% to 4.19 MT , Annual output slips

Biznextindia :  Sajjan Jindal-led JSW steel has reported 6 per cent YoY growth in Crude steel production at 4.19 million tonnes (MT). On QoQ (Quarter on Quarter) basis the company has registered 2 per cent growth in production against 4.08 MT in Q3.

The production of Rolled products (Flat) grew by 4 per cent (YoY) to 2.99 MT from 2.87 MT in Q4 FY20. However, the company has witnessed an impressive 11 per cent rise in its Long Rolled products output to 1.05 MT as compared to 0.95 MT in Q4 FY20.

During the fourth quarter, the company’s average capacity utilisation improved to 93 per cent from 91 per cent in the third quarter. However, the capacity utilisation during the month of March 2021 was 96%.

Overall in the 2020-21 financial year, the company has reported crude steel production of 15.08 MT, a drop of 6 per cent against a production of 16.06 MT in the previous financial year i.e 2019-20.

The production of Rolled products (Flat) dropped by 4 per cent (YoY) to 10.87 MT in FY21 from 11.35 MT in FY20. However, the company has witnessed a drop of 14 per cent rise in its Long Rolled products output to 3.21 MT as compared to 3.72 MT in Q4 FY20.

The drop in annual crude steel production is mainly due to drastic fall in production during the lockdown months. In April 2020, JSW’s crude steel production dropped by 60 per cent to 0.56 MT.
