JIO crosses 1 crore mobile subscribers mark in Odisha, adds 3.6 lakh new subscribers in June: TRAI data
Bhubaneswar : Mukesh Ambani controlled Reliance Jio, has surpassed 10 million mobile subscriber mark in Odisha telecom circle as per the telecom subscriber data released today by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for the month of June 2019. This feat has been achieved by JIO in remarkable speed as it crossed the 1 crore subscriber mark in less than three years of commercial launch of its services.
As per this subscriber data, Reliance Jio continued its stupendous journey in Odisha as the most preferred mobile service provider by adding over 3.61 lakh new subscribers in the state in June 2019 whereas all other service providers witnessed decline in their mobile subscriber base in the same month. With this Reliance Jio now have 31% subscriber market share in the state, inching closer to Bharti Airtel which had witnessed continued decline in subscribers.
The overall mobile subscribers in Odisha increased by 2.02 lakhs in June, mostly fuelled by strong subscriber additions by JIO as all other service providers witnessed decline in number of subscribers in the state, reveals the data released by TRAI. It is worth mentioning here that Reliance Jio has been continuously adding highest number of subscribers in Odisha every month, fuelled by its all 4G network, fast expansion of its 4G network coverage in the hitherto unconnected hinterlands and the hugely popular affordable JioPhone – India ka Smartphone in rural as well as semi-urban population.
With the mobile subscriber data released today by TRAI for June 2019, the overall mobile subscriber base in the state in the first six months of 2019 has come down by 4 lakhs. During this six-month period Reliance JIO led all the way adding 20.8 lakh subscribers in the state followed a distant second BSNL which added around 1.8 lakhs mobile subscribers in this period. However, these first six months of 2019 witnessed Vodafone Idea losing 13.2 lakhs mobile subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel which lost around 10.6 lakhs mobile subscribers in the state in this period.
Nationally also, Reliance JIO, which has now become the largest mobile service provider in terms of subscribers overtaking both Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel, continued to add highest new subscribers in the month of June 2019, revealed the TRAI subscriber data. Reliance JIO added 82.68 lakh new subscribers in June 2019 whereas Vodafone Idea lost over 41.45 lakhs subscribers in the same period. Among other service providers only BSNL registered marginal increase in subscribers by adding 2.66 lakhs subscribers in June, the report said. The overall mobile subscriber base in the country zoomed to 116.5 crores with net addition of 36 lakhs new subscribers in June 2019, mostly fuelled by the impressive additions of subscribers by Reliance JIO.
