Bhubaneswar: Odisha added more than 1.5 lakh mobile subscribers in the month of February taking the state’s total mobile subscriber base to 3.40 crore with a tele-density of 77.71 per cent. Reliance Jio has maintained its dominant position by adding over 1.9 lakh subscribers, followed by Airtel which has added 66,908 new subscribers.
According to the latest data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), overall mobile subscriber base in Odisha increased by 156783 in the month of February 2021 and total mobile subscriber base in Odisha surpassed 3.4 crores as on 28th February 2021. In Odisha, Reliance Jio added highest 1,90,663 mobile subscribers in Feb 2021 followed by Airtel which added 66,908 mobile subscribers in the month. However, VI lost 64904 subscribers and BSNL lost 35884 subscribers in the same month, as per the data published by TRAI.
Nationally, Jio added highest 42.66 lakhs new subscribers followed by Airtel which added 37.3 lakhs, while VI added 6.5 lakh subscribers and BSNL lost 3.6 lakh subscribers in Feb 2021. Total mobile subscriber base in the country increased by 82,92,668 in Feb 2021, as per data released by TRAI.
The TRAI report further said that, the Wireless Tele-density in India increased from 85.24 at the end of January-21 to 85.78 at the end of February-21. The Urban Wireless Tele-density increased from 134.98 at the end of January-21 to 136.03 at the end of February-21 and Rural Tele-density also increased from 59.05 to 59.28 during the same period.
