Mumbai : Amid hopes of more stimulus measures by the government to restore the economy, Benchmark indices opened higher on Thursday with BSE Sensex above 3500 level and Nifty above 8900 level. At 09:17 hrs the BSE Sensex is up 748.97 points or 2.51% at 30642.93, and the NSE Nifty up 217.45 points or 2.49% at 8966.20. About 764 shares have advanced, 82 shares declined, and 25 shares are unchanged.
At 10 am, the indices extended the gains with Nifty reclaimed the 9000 mark. Sensex is up +726.18 points or 2.4% at 30,620.14, and the NSE Nifty up 245.45 points or 2.81% at 8994.20.
The Finance Ministry is likely to announce a second stimulus package in the coming days to help sectors like MSMEs, Aviation and hospitality sectors.
While, the top gainers on BSE include CIPLA, Reliance Capital, HEG, the major gainers on NSE include CIPLA, Tata Motors, JSW Steel, Maruti and Vedanta.
