New Delhi : India on Thursday reported two cases of ‘Omicron’, the new strain of COVID-19 virus. Two men-one is 66 year and the other is 46 year old, have been found to be infected with the new variant, union health ministry has confirmed.
“Two cases of Omicron detected in Karnataka so far through genome sequencing effort of INSACOG consortium of 37 laboratories established by the Ministry of Health. We need not panic, but awareness is absolutely essential. COVID apt behaviour is required” said Balram Bhargava, DG ICMR during a health ministry press meet.
Meanwhile, Lav Agrawal, Joint Secretary, health ministry said, all their contacts have been identified and they are under monitoring. The protocol is being followed.
