CM Mohan Majhi Presents Rs 2.65 Lakh Crore Odisha Budget with Focus On Agriculture, Women Empowerment and Odisha pride
Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance Department, presented BJP government’s maiden state budget of ₹2.65 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 in the Odisha Assembly. This budget marks an approximate 15% increase from the previous year’s budget estimate of ₹2,30,000 crore for 2023-24.
Presenting the first budget of the BJP government in the Assembly, Chief Minister Majhi announced a proposed allocation of ₹33,919 crore for the Agriculture Budget, reflecting a significant 36% increase from the previous year’s estimates. Additionally, a proposed allocation of ₹10,000 crore has been earmarked for the Subhadra scheme, aimed at accelerating the empowerment of women across the state.
Describing the budget as a “people’s budget,” Majhi highlighted that the government incorporated feedback from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including ordinary citizens, before finalizing the budget. The consultation process involved discussions with over 12,000 people in recent days.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the budget is strategically focused on key sectors such as agriculture, industries, health, education, and services, with a particular emphasis on the development of farmers, women, youth, and the economically disadvantaged.
